Let me be honest, when I first became a mother I truly believed if I just did what I was ‘supposed’ to do as a mom I could shape them into the well-behaved, perfect children I knew I was destined to have. The reality: they are their own little people, through and through. They are just born that way. Another thing I learned: there is no ‘supposed right way blue print.’ The way my parents did it may have no effect on the beautiful little monsters that bless my life...
I recently had the opportunity to chat with a super inspiring woman, Anne Hockenberry of Birds and Berry Studio She is an amazing artist who loves to see God in the ordinary and capture the beauty in life. If you read a little about Anne, in the first couple lines you will see why I thought an interview with her would be so fitting for Shelby at Home. She is living and loving her passion in life, and her art. She has found inspiration in her family and love of nature, particularly birds with all thanks always to God.
I have always been drawn to women in art. I think it is because you know they were a muse and they inspired the artist. I like to wonder what they were thinking as the artist took the shot that would be the masterpiece we see today. Surely the women had to be flattered by the attention, or did they know the were the center of attention?
Nothing can quite transform a space like a custom piece of art. It can change the mood of the whole space. Its been said that the fastest way to make a space look instantly more vibrant, updated, fresh and authentic is to change the art to custom art. Oil Paintings and Wall Art.
Art should always be a representation and a reflection of your most authentic self. Art is subjective because not everyone's heart is the same. We are all unique beings. I am a firm believer that we have to surround ourselves with reminders and love the spaces we are in, where our hearts feel free and our souls feel at home.
